The Desert Dwellers visit the Mountains

There once lived a family of 6. Because the Man of the House was a contractor, he had built/remodeled several structures. He had once remodeled a cabin in the mountains of Arizona. On this particular day, Dad's job was to drive to the cabin, before the long winter months, and do some small finishing details. He invited the other 5 members of his family to tag along. The older girls didn't go to school and the oldest boy ditched therapy, and off they went.
Because this family lived in a desert climate, Mom assumed that the weather would only be slightly colder than the valley. Mom dressed her kids in long sleeves, pants, and closed toe shoes, and brought zip up hoodies...just in case.
The drive went as most car trips. Laughing, talking, napping, chicken nuggets, and Mom throwing random objects to the backseat.

When the family arrived in the mountains a few hours later, they were alarmed at the frigid weather.At first it was just a little cold, so everyone got to play and see the grand forrest...Dad worked.

After a little while, it seems like the temperature dropped 15 degrees and the wind began blowing with zeal.
{It was bitter cold}
The kids found shelter in a nearby dog house, the car, the cabin, or they just enjoyed it.

Then the bitter cold turned to rain, wind, and frozen ice balls falling from the sky. (I think it's called hail :) )
{Yikes}
Ashlinn and Hallie went in the car.
Tate began shivering, whining and then shrieking as he clenched his entire body.
Crew wanted to continue his adventures.

Soon it was time to began the road trip home. After a few hours, the desert dwellers had seen their quota of winter weather for the year.
They stopped at one scenic point to check out the view.
When the car stopped, Tate began shrieking.
{He was officially done}

The were happy to return to the valley and find it to be 86 degrees...and sunny.

I giggled when I read "When the car stopped, Tate began shrieking". Haha, I would be joining in the shriek. Hate cold weather. Funny how I get to endure 4 nasty winters. But you're right, we have changed and think 50 degrees is nice. It is! Minus wind. :)

I feel your pain. My kids didn't last 10 minutes in the snow when we visited Colorado in October. Gotta love the desert!
